Newly clothed Br Tom and Br James Martin in Wantage

Our Two New Novices

Please pray for

Br James Martin Gonzalez OC & Br Tom Clammer OC

The Brothers were clothed in the Cistercian habit on the 26th July at our residential Chapter meeting at the Convent of St Mary the Virgin in Wantage.

Please pray also for our postulants, Fr Michael and Fr Robert, as they discern a vocation with us.

Teach me to do your will, for you are my God. Let your good spirit lead me on a level patch. [Psalm 143:10]

Are you hastening toward your heavenly home? Then, with Christ’s help, keep this little rule that we have written for beginners. After that, you can set out for loftier summits of the teaching and virtues we mentioned above, and under God’s protection you will reach them. [Rule of St Benedict, Chapter 73:8-9]

We pray for all those who are in those early months and years of Religious Life, especially Br James Martin and Br Tom, as they continue to learn about the way that they are following. May they be upheld in their prayer life, in their study, and in the life of our community. May God sustain them in the ups and downs, the joys and the struggles that they will face. Pray too for all those who are charged with the guidance and support of our novices who are following this way of life, especially Br Gilbert our Prior and Novice Master. Amen.

We pray that the novitiate may be for them an opportunity of meeting with Christ, your Son our Lord. May this encounter with Christ be source of life, of living their vocation with dedication, of deeper knowledge of their heart, of growth, of loyalty and, if it is your will, of true desire of consecration of their life to the only Lord. Amen.

We pray for men and women whom you have called to live the Religious Life and who are being formed as novices. We put into your hands their lives, their hopes, and their vocation. Amen.
